Leadership Development

HPAC helps develop leaders who will gain positions and appointments in key leadership positions in the community. The organization promotes Hispanic representation on elected and appointed boards, commissions, task forces and committees and advocates for social change and public policy by focusing on the accountability of elected and appointed officials who serve the community.

HPAC Leadership activities include:

  • Sponsor and co-sponsor numerous political forums
  • Partner with other Hispanic organizations to advocate for issues of common concern
  • Provide financial support to various civic causes
  • Host educational and advocacy sessions on key issues
  • Publicly recognize organizations and individuals who make positive contributions to our community, state and nation
  • Coordinate educational presentations and forums on important local and regional issues
  • Met with leadership of five major educational entities advocating for increased diversity including The University of Arizona, Pima Community College, Tucson Unified School District Sunnyside Unified School District and Arizona Board of Regents
  • Initiated the formation of the Tucson Hispanic Coalition
  • Provided financial support for Latino Leadership Program

HPAC Membership activities include:

  • Serving on the UA Hispanic Advisory Council Task Force, securing increased funding for Hispanic recruitment and retention at The University of Arizona.
  • Participating on many local boards and commissions.
  • Having served on selection panel for Tucson Unified School District Superintendent
